The reconstruction of Sava Centar, one of Belgrade’s most prominent conference and cultural venues, represents a comprehensive upgrade of an iconic building, aimed at improving functionality, energy performance, and overall user experience.
Originally built to host large-scale international events, the building is being adapted to meet contemporary standards while preserving its architectural identity and role within the city.
BWK Engineers was engaged in the development of technical documentation and design for mechanical systems, including HVAC, smoke extraction, and pressurization systems. The scope covered the PGD and PZI phases, as well as design supervision, ensuring that all solutions are properly implemented during construction.
The design approach focused on upgrading system performance within the constraints of an existing structure, addressing the specific requirements of large assembly spaces, high occupancy, and complex operational scenarios. Particular attention was given to system reliability, fire safety strategies, and integration with the overall building concept.
